What is Naturopathic Medicine?

When: Wednesday, August 18, 2010
Time: Noon - 1:30 p.m.
Location: North Star Lodge Community Room
Featured Speaker: Heidi Robel, ND, LAc

Rather than turning to pharmaceuticals, imagine your medical care directed instead to natural remedies based on plant-based elements. Nature holds the basics to a healthful life. Naturopathic physicians look first to natural substances rather than artificial ones to help relieve pain and injuries to our bodies.

Another primary element to naturopathic practice is one of prevention and maintaining a balanced healthy mind, body and spirit.

A graduate of Bastyr University, Dr. Robel, holds a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters Degree in Acupuncture. She will explain what "naturopathic" means in the world of medical practice and how naturopathic physicians treat the whole person, not just the disease.

No cost is associated with this workshop; however, RSVP's are requested. A complimentary light lunch will be provided.

Registration is limited

Celebrate Life Scrapbooking

The battle against cancer involves more than the body; the mind, emotions and spirit are affected as well. North Star Lodge's Stepping Stones Life Enrichment Center is here to focus on treating the whole person in an atmosphere designed to bring about comfort.

MEMORIES: Preserve precious family memories of your family and loved ones through scrapbooking classes presented complements of North Star Lodge's Life Enrichment Center. Facilitated by Connie Herrick, the scrapbooking group will meet on the Third Tuesday of each month..

Space is Limited and Registration is Required.

BRING WITH YOU: Patients and families who wish to attend should bring with them:

  1. Photos - It is best to bring only a handful of photos that tell a story together, i.e., same person, same people, an event, party, vacation, birthday, holiday, etc.
  2. Laughter - it brings joy to our hearts.
  3. Scissors - scissors are available, but if you have a favorite pair, bring them.
  4. Stories, dates, names and places that go with the photos.
  5. Smiles and encouragement
  6. Special emblems or embellishments - for instance, a Girl Scout patch or serviceman's certificates of honor or medals.

Dress is very casual as we will be spending a lot of time together creating memory pages.

For questions, please call Kitty Inaba at 574-3441 or e-mail kitty.inaba@yvmh.org
